Protocol was founded by Mary Leahy and Marina Watt, both from Ireland, in 1996. “We saw the need to set up a company that works at a pace one might expect from a World Class Destination Management Organisation”. What makes us different from other agencies? Having lived here for over 20 years, although we are immersed in the Spanish way of life & its culture, we most importantly, fully understand the business expectations and have the same work etiquette as our clients coming from all over the World.
Marina Watt & Mary Leahy
What made our long standing partnership work so well? Our absolute certainty on one very important factor in the event industry: “Service is never compromised under any circumstances” We started with this simple mission statement and have never diverted far from it…both Mary and Marina are fully involved in the daily running of the company and maintaining quality level on all Protocol events.
Carolina Carrasco (Barcelona Office Manager)
Carolina our creative asset and “Maquinita!” (little machine). Carolina started with Protocol in 2006 with no event experience….within a couple of years she was running our office! A huge asset to us Carolina is everything an event planner should be: professional, efficient, resourceful and a valued staff member. Carolina now works part time for us from Barcelona.
Julia Schmidt (Malaga Office Manager)
Graduated in Economics at the University of Munich, Julia first started with the Events Business in BMW Group organising Press Launches all over the world. Attracted to Spain she moved here in 2005 and changed from the client side to the agency side. Since 2008 Julia is Director of Protocol and especially takes care of our German clients. Born to be an event planner Julia’s efficiency is second to none and certainly lives up to the German fame of efficiency…probably the most accurate feedback from a client about Julia was “Julia can do the most difficult event with her eyes closed, she is so relaxed on site as she is absolutely sure that she’s got it all covered!”
Since 2004 Valerie has worked with Protocol both full time and part time. Based in Barcelona Valerie’s attention to detail and outstanding client service skills is a tremendous asset to our team. As with all our staff Valerie is bi-lingual and her local knowledge & creativity come naturally making her enjoy thoroughly what she does and fantastic for theming dinners/parties and finding those hidden gems that guests “ can never find alone”, those hidden gems that we all want included in our events!
Flor Molet (Madrid office Manager)
Flor has worked on events for the past 10 years on a freelance basis both in Spain and internationally. Flor has worked for large multinational firms throughout Spain and abroad in destinations such as Malta, Copenhagen, Morocco, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Munich, Qatar, Bahrain, Sant Tropez, Sorrento, Cannes, Corsica & Budapest. This wide experience is a tremendous asset in understanding international clients, how they work and what they expect. Flor joined the Protocol team in 2011and we hope she will be with us for many more years to come!
Our Swedish addition to the team! Johanna has worked with us full and part time since 2006 and is a valuable asset to our team. On site excellence is Johanna’s forte and to be in the middle of the chaos is when she is most happy, Johanna in charge is a blessing to any stressed event organizer!
